25 May ’08 -- By Registered Post RD 28831991 & Email mail@rspcansw.org.au -- An Open Letter to: RSPCA (NSW) PO Box 34 Yagoona NSW 2199 Re: Animal Cruelty at 124 Wolseley Street Bexley (ph 02 9587 9437) Dear Sirs / Madams I wish to report animal cruelty at 124 Wolseley Street Bexley (Ph 02 9587 9437) to a Pomeranian dog, several birds - including a galah, a cockatiel, budgie, 11 finches; and over 60 fish - freshwater and marine aquariums - pond fish - two ponds one near the back awning another up under the jacaranda tree - koi carp, gold fish, etc. Many of these pets have already died from neglect following a takeover of this family house by some very malicious people. Briefly here it's been caused by the proverbial sibling (I have a brother and 2 sisters) fight over the family house of over 40 years - they want to get it sold so they can get their hands on the money. I had been living in the subject family house for the last 6 years as a stay at home father for my daughter (now 5 and in Kindie) and aged care to my father (Matthew Hogan). I set up his very own suburban zoo to give him company as he became increasingly incapacitated. Increasingly over the last year my siblings have been agitating in any way possible to get me and my daughter (Tara) out of the family house so they can sell it. Also fueled by jealousy of the close relationship between the 3 of us. Their concern being that with me living there they will never get their hands on the inheritance. Now just recently they really began an obviously well planned push to get us out of the family house. With effortless ease they convinced local St George health authorities that I was mentally unsound and my mother's GP, Dr Bazergy (Carlton practice) signed off that I was the sole cause of her health problems (she's 80 this year). Couldn't be that she has been worked up by my siblings, especially her wonderful daughter, Catherine Busuttil , who neighbours can confirm started making a heck of a lot of visits starting a couple of months ago. Then my brother began blocking me from entering the house, trying to bait me into violence - clearly knowing that he had the 'authorities' onside. So having to consider the effect of this worsening domestic violence on my 5 year old daughter I began living in a caravan park. This obviously wasn't enough. Then they put the pressure on my daughter's mother to move out immediately, no extensions. Again with the consideration of the effect on our 5 y.o. she hurriedly arranged temporary accommodation with the next door neighbour (in 126 Wolseley). Their moving date was then set for last Friday 23 May '08. In the meantime my brother (DH) had already begun moving and throwing out much of our personal possessions. Now all this upheaval did not just cause many of our animals to die an unnecessary, callous, slow, painful death from malicious neglect - but on the day he knew his beloved Granddaughter was being kicked out of her family house in which she was raised (they played cards, drafts and chequers together every night) Grandad's 'being' decided if she was going, so was he - Matthew James Roger Hogan died in the evening of that same day, 23 May (in his 82nd year, a special obituary from myself and his granddaughter should be in the SMH on Tuesday, with the funeral apparently Thursday at Carlton Catholic Church 3:00pm - if we're allowed through the door - really wish we could get some fellow Animal Lovers to attend so we are not totally out-numbered!). Now, so as not to upset potential buyers of the house they are going to have my father's beloved Pomeranian, Oscar, 'put down'. Our accommodation arrangements are so up in the air we can't find a place where we can take a dog. And Oscar is a very sensitive dog just giving him to anyone will kill him too. He's already pretty knocked about. He apparently went crazy on Friday sensing something was wrong with his Master, repeatedly forcing his way into the house, only to be screamed at. And he is used to getting his afternoon daily walk. Now we don't know if he is even being fed properly by Mr "Normal" David Hogan. Now there were signs today (Sunday 25/5) that they are rushing to get the house and yard ready for a quick sale, in case I am able to block the sale in Court - I've been trying to get help from Legal Aid and can't afford a lawyer (and "Free First Consultation" Yellow Page Lawyer ads are a scam). They're particularly in a hurry because they know there is a video my father made to go with his Will - he made it because he knew that his wife could do what she wanted with her Will and that my siblings would contest any changes to the standard divvy up. In the video he clearly states that it is his wish that the family house never be sold, and in particular, that it be kept as a place of refuge for any descendants, i.e., who could not afford to pay a 25 year mortgage. And of course, he expected his pets to be looked after, especially Oscar. So they will probably start cleaning up the backyard zoo to make it presentable for the sale. Or going on their callous diabolical behaviour so far, they will just kill them all and dump them in a hole up the back. I had a quick peek when I got in the house after my father's death Friday evening, and the fish tanks and ponds in particular were a mess - filters not working, filthy water, many fish already dead. I doubt if they can be bothered learning how to look after fish, just for a short time, until the sale of the house, especially marine fish, which require very high quality water.

"Garfield" - now caged up and not looking very happy Grandad used to love to sit out the back and have the company of all his pets and take his mind off his aches and pains. Can you please help us save the rest of our animals, especially Oscar. Not just finding him another home with strangers, but helping us take legal action against these people for cruelty to animals and to block the sale of the house as per my father's wishes. At the very least we should be allowed to live in a backyard shed or down the front in a caravan so we can care for the animals as my father would have wanted. It took years and considerable cost to set it all up with so many beautiful carefully selected animals - the 3 of us, Grandad, Granddaughter (Tara) and me would go around to stacks of different pet shops and aquariums to find just the right additions. Before I came back to live there with Tara, Grandad would just sit there under an empty awning depressed while his wife watched tennis and the religion channel all day on cable TV. Then he had this fantastic managerie where could pat his dog, have the birds fly on him, talk to them... And now to see this happening is just heart breaking for any animal lover. My siblings and mother all hold themselves out to be fine members of our Australian society, zealot christians even, in fact they are callous Animal Killers, not to mention the abuse of a little 5 year old Granddaughter. The situation is now urgent we need to get something done to save these helpless animals before any more die. Oscar is already very upset and in clear and present danger, David Hogan is totally deranged and could kill Oscar tomorrow. These Animal Killers need to be shamed and made an example of, so siblings in other families think twice about such takeovers. Maybe you could even help us get Channel 7's Today Tonight out here. Because these people have a total disregard for Australian Law, everything they do is rationalized as god's work - getting rid of evil pagans, no matter what methods need to be employed.
